Each year, nearly 1.5 million adolescents and young adults around the world are diagnosed with cancer. These patients, ages 15 to 39, face distinct challenges related to work, health insurance, school, fertility, and emotional distress. Not only does cancer threaten their autonomy in this pivotal time in their life, but adolescents and young adults also have a unique cancer biology and have not shown the same improvements in survival seen in their older or younger counterparts. How do we bridge this gap in cancer care?


Join The Atlantic for an evening reception and conversation and hear from survivors who beat cancer as young adults and went on to become oncologists and advocates. We’ll explore the pioneering local programs that support the unique needs of adolescents and young adults with cancer.
